Rockland will be busy this coming weekend, as the annual North Atlantic Blues Festival will bring thousands of people to town. And those crowds will come at the same time there's something of a "business boom" in Rockland's downtown.
That was the phrase used by one Main Street landlord, who has just rented her storefront space to a new art gallery.
But that landlord clearly isn't the only person using the term. The promotional group Rockland Main Street, Inc. says about ten new businesses have opened in the downtown in the last few months, several of them opening their doors few weeks ago - just in time for summer. Gordon Page of Rockland Main Street says it's a sign that there's more confidence in the economy, and that business owners and customers want to be in the downtown area. Continue Reading →

The Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce our online and live auction event for 2014. On September 15 at 8am, the “doors” will open to our auction, which will take place online at www.BiddingforGood.com/PBRCCAuction. All money raised supports our mission of promoting the interests of our members by advocating for the commercial and economic development of the region.
The fourth largest chamber in the state of Maine (and the largest chamber representing smaller, coastal communities), we are one of the largest membership-driven community organizations in the area. We represent the coming together of businesses, non-profits, government, and citizens in support of a vibrant and growing region with unparalleled quality of life and quality of place. We are the voice of business in Knox, Waldo, and northern Lincoln counties.
The online auction bidding will run from September 15 at 8am through October 8 at 9pm, with about 100 items heading to a live auction on Wednesday, October 15 at Cellardoor Winery, located at 367 Youngtown Rd. in Lincolnville.
