Lifetime birder, Ann Boover, will offer a field trip for birders of all ages and abilities to Rockland Harbor on Wednesday, February 19 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registered participants gather at the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 9 Water Street, Rockland at 10 a.m., and then the group will head out to search for birds. Dress warmly and bring binoculars if you have them (we will have a few to loan). After looking for birds, the group will return to the center to warm up with hot cocoa. The movie, Counting on Birds, will be offered for those who wish to stay and learn about the Christmas bird count. Rockland Harbor in winter often is a safe place for eiders, guillemots, grebes, gulls and others as they venture to calmer harbor waters in search of food. Please register for this free program, by calling 594-0600, ext. 5 or email at info@mainecoastislands.org. Snow date will be February 20.
