USDA Funding for 2019: Help allocate local funds!

On Wednesday, December 6 from 10am to noon, Knox-Lincoln and Kennebec Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs), in cooperation with the Augusta Field office of the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), will hold a meeting of the Local Working Group for Kennebec and Lincoln counties at the Whitefield Fire & Rescue Building at 26 Town House Rd in Whitefield. This group will make recommendations to NRCS on how to spend 2014 Farm Bill funds for conservation practices on private lands. More...

Expiring ITINs and the Importance of Renewing Them

The Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers with expiring Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) to submit their renewal applications as soon as possible. Failing to renew them by the end of the year will cause refund and processing delays in 2018. Rockland and Camden Shops Support UMC with Days of Giving

The holiday spirit is thriving in Rockland and the Camden area, where businesses in each town have set aside a Saturday in December to contribute to United Midcoast Charities (UMC) in support of the work of local nonprofit organizations.

Rockland will host a Day of Giving on December 2, and the Camden area will follow suit on December 9. Participating shops have committed to generously donate a portion of their sales to UMC, and all proceeds will be applied toward UMC’s grants – which help food pantries, health clinics, nursing services, homeless shelters and other providers of vital services in Knox and Waldo counties.
